NASA FINDS EARTH-LIKE PLANET Kepler 22-B
The planet is smack in the middle of what astronomers call the Goldilocks zone, that hard to find place that's not too hot, not too cold, where water, which is essential for life, doesn't freeze or boil. And it has a shopping mall-like surface temperature of near 72 degrees (22 degrees Celsius), scientists say.
The planet's confirmation was announced by NASA along with other discoveries by its Kepler telescope, which was launched on a planet-hunting mission in 2009.
That's the first planet confirmed in the habitable zone for Kepler, which had already found Earth-like rocky planets elsewhere. Twice before astronomers have announced a planet found in that zone, but neither have been as promising.
"This is a phenomenal discovery in the course of human history," Geoff Marcy of University of California, Berkeley, one of the pioneers of planet-hunting outside our solar system, said in an email. "This discovery shows that we Homo sapiens are straining our reach into the universe to find planets that remind us of home. We are almost there."
The new planet - named Kepler-22b - has key aspects it shares with Earth. It circles a star that could be the twin of our sun and at just about the same distance. The planet's year of 290 days is even close to ours. It likely has water and rock.
The only trouble is the planet's a bit big for life to exist on the surface. The planet is about 2.4 times the size of Earth. It could be more like the gas-and-liquid Neptune with only a rocky core and mostly ocean.
So far the Kepler telescope has spotted 2,326 candidate planets outside our solar system with 139 of them potentially habitable ones. Even though the confirmed Kepler-22b is a bit big, it is still smaller than most of the other candidates. It is closest to Earth in size, temperature and star than either of the two previously announced planets in the zone.
The planet is 600 light years away. Each light year is 5.9 trillion miles. It would take a space shuttle about 22 million years to get there.

  • meanwhile in Kepler 22b

'' A living planet similar to us but much more smaller was found and was named Planet Earth....The living creatures which they call themselves intelligent human beings are preety fucked up in mind and all they care is about money, killing and torturing other human beings...They are destroying their own humanity by inventing new bombs and explsions...This creatures are so much greedy and they are insane .....Planet earth is becoming fucked up planet !!!!!

  • Just 5 problems

    1. Need's livable atmosphere

    2. Needs Ozone

    3. Not too much CO2

    4. Right Barometric Temperature (Mar's is lower than ours so water boils at 50-70 degrees.)

I can't believe my tax money is going towards Nasa, when they expect me to believe that just because it's near a star it has to be Earth like. There's a million things needed first.

  • @PlanetXshockingproof I feel that your just another Nibiru trollfag that's blind from separating conspiracy and radical whackfuck.

  • coz that looks like earth

  • @TheLuckyShadow One more thing I forgot to mention to you, with the exception of this planet being so far( as you say from their sources 600 light years) away and some small changes in detail, it does fit as I said, the description of Nibiru somewhat. I have had pictures analyzed and I can tell you that my pictures are for real; everyone is seeing the same things so we all can't be wrong; no sun dogs, lens flares, illusions, or photoshop either; I feel something is not right.

  • @TheLuckyShadow Are you absolutely sure this data from NASA can be trusted? I mean really, none of us were there when the reports on this planet was being given to scientists; the government has lied before to us plainly and I can prove it; Area 51 ring a bell?; they swore up and down for years it didn't exist and we KNOW it does. So we already know the government lies. With that said, if they can do that, their scientists can feed us false information; that's more my point.

  • @PlanetXshockingproof Are you kidding? You are kidding right? This planet is 600 LIGHT YEARS away from us, do you have any idea at all how far that is? For your information, if that planet were to start moving towards earth for some ridiculous reason it would take it thousands of years to reach us, I mean come on!!

  • @getfunky79 I understand your point but, you are wrong, this is not how another intelligent race would see us, greed and selfishness are a part of life and if I must say so myself us humans are actually less selfish and greedy than our animal friends, most species of animals will abandon their young when threatened by a predator, most animals will keep all of the food for themselves if there is a shortage or even worse some animals will actually eat their own young if food is not available.

  • Planet Namek

  • In all sincerity, really, this sounds a lot like Nibiru. I know NASA lies and have been caught in lies in the past, but they are all but admitting this is Planet X. They have to get the information out slowly I guess: also they only want people with certain perceptive skills to survive the passing; looking to the ancients seems to be the correct way to start the research; this fellow LUCUS (researcher) doesn't seem to have anyone arguing with him; he didn't leave one stone unturned.

  • @getfunky79 this planet earth sounds horrible
