Rebecca Part Ten (English subtitles)

Rebecca, Nur ein Schritt and Strandgut from Rebecca the musical.

With regards to Strandgut:
Strandgut means flotsam and jetsam - I translated it as such once then used just 'flotsam' for ease of reading. It's still both although I guess most people don't know or care for the difference hehe.
The word 'handgut' has caused me big problems (is it a 'real' word?). I figured it meant something along the lines of possible to claim or 'goods of the hands' (Strandgut = Beach property therefore Handgut = hand property, right?) Anyway, I'm not 100% sure and I don't know how to formulate that idea into good English anyway so for the most part I've put 'handgut' in. Who knows, maybe us English-y people may start using it ;)

If anyone can help me with the meaning of 'handgut' I will be very happy!

'Strandgut ist Handgut' just means that everything that is found at the beach belongs to the one who found it.

But you're right: 'Handgut' isn't a real word. I think, Michael Kunze (who wrote the song texts) had to translate the English 'Flotsam and Jetsam'.^^

@OiaHavanah Maybe you could say 'The flotsam belongs to us' or something like that. It's translated very freely, but I think you get the meaning,

@Mylena1001 They're the shadows. I don't think they're so obvious in this recording but when I saw it in Hungary they were really creepy!
