This technique works well for me when I do death growls, but for some reason trying it at a higher pitch sounds and feels awkward. Should there be such a big difference?

@andrewcairns11 Hmm... If you watch my Burzum collaboration cover, I think you'll agree that it works fine for Black Metal. This approach works well for any extremely distorted vocals though, it's a versatile technique.
