are usually futurity horses and futurity horses are in the three-six age zone and most horses in that zone require very skilled riders. And most horses these days require spurs and you have to know what you're doing to use spurs...

Yep. and it really bothers me when people think, "Oh, she has an expensive horse. She can't ride. Her dad just buys her a push button horse and she wins on it."
1st, just b/c a horse is expensive, doesn't mean it's going to win.
2nd, show me a person with a push button horse that isn't a good rider. The horse may do something at the drop of a dime, but they can't make the rider have good horsemanship. the rider has worked their way into having a nice horse.
