  • The title of this game says it was played in 1999, but in the video you say it was played in 1996. ^^;

    Where/how is the mate at 16:56 if the king takes the lance?

  • Oh, I'm not sure.

    But the important thing here is Satou wants to make sure he can go K-9e and achieve king entering. If he takes the lance, he might not be able to win after white's Gx8e and the following many checks.

  • wow. it is really difficult to find the mate after the knight drop at 8e =.=

  • After lance drop at 8a, If King takes lance at 9f, 1. P'9e 2. K9g 3. G'9f 4. K9h 5. Gx8g 6. K9i 7. P8i+ 8. Rx8i 9. B'7g and the rest are easy checkmates. I think this should be right...
