bobby, tell us more about that oak barrel...i am interested but know nothing about barrels?? how many batches can you go through before it loses its oak character?

im totally done w/ us-05. the last ipa i made was dominated by a peach aroma. i dont mean the tropical fruit aromas from dry hopping, it was def the yeast component from the us-05. i dont remember a 3 oz dry hop of chinook/columbus smelling like peaches. i also picked up some astringency the last 2 batches with us-05 that makes me question my water profile. back to making starters....

@jakecpunut Yeah, I think he did that to keep any skeptics from saying that there could have been some sort of bias involved. Thanks so much for uploading your test results. I linked all of these vids on the HBT forums (I am dantheman13 there), hopefully that is ok.

Were these two different recipes? I wonder if that might throw off the results a bit.

No, as far as Tom told me, they were the same 10 gallon batch all the way until they hit two different fermenters.
