What a fun day that was. March 8th, 9th.???, 1965. 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines landed and were greeted not by VC but by nuns, school girls & the media. Brig Gen Karch was pissed off. He felt that we landed at the wrong place, shoulda been Haiphong Harbor right? Spent most of that year on the Danang Air Base or the hills overlooking it.

@endracismguy Your grand daddy was wrong, every battle we fought against the NVA/VC we inflicted way more casualties, it was the VC that would not Stand and fight, instead they would Hit, and Run, and set up Booby Trap's, not that those tactics were bad, or ineffective because they certainly were, and it was hard to kill an ememy you couldn't see, that's why we dropped so much ordance and used alot of artillery because it was all a US Solider could do to kill the little Dink bastard's

@Noobssuckass300 Why bring up race? this video, and the Marines that are landing has nothing to do with race, your the reason there is still so much friction between black's and whites, let it go.

Very good video, my father landed there in 1965 during Operation Starlite!

@emarin706 Absolutely right. Those m-16s were like plastic toys that jammed a lot. I used my M-14 for my whole tour and never had a problem.

look at those m14's... i wouldn't mind handling one of those instead; one shot, one kill. troops are taught to disciplined single fire shots, so why not use a rifle with enough kick to get the job done. that's at least my opinion from a guy who's going to be a future marine rifleman :)

Every soldier who fought for his side or his country needs respect.
They just fought like they have told to or for their country.
But it's the reason why they need to fight which makes it bad.
Mostly it's about money, property, power, filling the big bosses their bankaccounts...
No president, no king, no politician isn't their for power or money.
They won't make the world better...
