  • i figured so but i do know the csx tri rail main is quiet in many places and i heard fec was going to be quiet in a few years back when i was in Miami Fl so i guess that fell through thats good

ill be sure to check that group out sometime thanks for the info

I think it's a safety measure. I've seen pedestrian gates like these at the south end of New Smyrna Beach yard as well; I have some pics of them. Apparently they've put them up as an extra layer of safety the those crossings.

I'd recommend joining the FECRailway Yahoo group if you have an interest in the FEC. The engineer on this train is a member there, as well as other FEC employees and enthusiasts. LOTS of good info there!!

  • thanks

i wanted to know if fec was putting up ped gates to make these locations quiet zones or if it was just safety over load

That's actually Roseland Road, which runs between CR 512 at Sebastian to US 1 at Roseland... sees a good bit of traffic as people coming to/from Sebastian use it to get to northbound US 1.

Neat video, I've spent some time railfanning behind the Wal-Mart just south of there (at the approach signal for Micco).

  • The East Coast Hogger driving. I think he would know which bridge is longer.

  • I live in the cabin to the right at the end of the video. I was probably fishing on my dock when this train went by. :)

  • this brings back memories.

i have spent many hours fishing off of this bridge back in the day.

we used to free-line some jumbo shrimp and catch the hell out of some sea trout and occasionally some very nice snook from this bridge. it took mastery of the ol' treble hook bridge gaff to get them on the trussel though :D

    good times.... good times.

    thanks for the post.

  • hey have u drove one of those SD70M-2 FEC has?

  • I think the one in stuart is longer

  • The horn is a Leslie S-3L.
