吉 幾三 - 酒よ

A song by Japanese folk (Enka) singer Ikuzo Yoshi (吉 幾三). Basically the type of song for anyone out there to listen to alone when you are down and depressed and feel the need to drink in excess to suppress the painful thoughts or memories. I guess it's safe to say this song is every depressed alcoholic's 'drinking anthem' LOL.

  • Excellent song. Very sad, is it from the 80s?

  • I'm not too sure myself, but my guess is that this song may have been released in the late 70s.

  • The feeling would get lost in the translation, but the singer is feeling lonely, and remembering the past when he was with someone. Now he's drinking alone, pouring his own drinks, listening to enka and talking to the sake. He tells the sake that it understands how he feels. The sake has taken the place of his lost love, perhaps.
