This is the English translated intro to Gryzor (Contra) for the NES. I wish Konami added these in the U.S. version.

  • Yes, because the JPN version of the NES (Famicom) used different chips for the games (even using some type of floppy discs for them). That's why the JPN version of Castlvania III had a little bit of graphic overhauls.

  • Don't we all? Really, it was due to the lack of using some chip (VRC2?), restriction of using custom chips in NA or something along the lines of that.

  • In that case, I still wish this was the official US version of Contra that came out long ago.

  • I never said you said it ;) And I know that this translation was done by Madhacker.

  • I didn't say that the word Gryzor was the literal translation to Contra. Besides, this was fan-translated by someone else, not me.

  • I hate when people do this. The Japanese version of Contra is NOT Gryzor. It's Contra. No matter what.
