Conductor: Claudio Scimone
I Solisti Veneti

Sorry for the abrupt ending, the overture sort of grows into Peter's recitative there seems to be no natural break.

Yes, the overture has nothing to do with Christ directly, Salieri called it

“La sinfonia esprime li rimorsi e la disperazione di Pietro”

The intention of this "song" isn`t to be said, the overture characterizes the spirit of Peter.

The overture shouldn`t be sad, it shouldn't describe the affliction of Jesus. If you would

know the plot you wouldn't say such things! The "Passione di Gesu Christo" is no real "Passion".

Jesus even doesn't appear in this work. By the way, listen to versions of this libretto by other composers.

The most of the overtures are also not sad.

    (Sorry for bad English)

  • i think salieri is very good composer but as said, this title does not match the music, maybe a few parts here and there. but in all does not match

  • very ugly this song, this is something happy not sad.

  • This was also performed in Åbo, Finland. Throughout an interesting piece of music and nowhere dull.

  • you're insulting yourself. Because you obviously don't know anything about music

  • Salieri is an amazing composer.

  • Amazing. Where did you find this? I'm always pleased when I see Salieri being performed.

  • scimone, as always, has a very relaxing rythm.
