Omron have developed OKAO Vision, vision sensing technology with a wide range of features and applications.
The image sensor system can be used in conjunction with preexisting surveillance equipment, detecting the direction of peoples movement, degrees of congestion, and analyzing the flow of movement in public spaces, or in more controlled environments, detecting whether a person has clearance to be in the area. the system can also determine gender and age, estimate the open-close position of the eyes, the degree of a smile, or the angle of a facial pose and gaze, from a single camera in real time with no need for pre-registration.
Applications for this system include optimizing digital devices such as cameras, in security systems and equipment, or in fields as diverse as healthcare, entertainment or robotics. The OKAO Vision system is now available as a PC-SDK, Embedded Solution or as an IP-Core.
