  • why don't you show us how to enter likert type scale variables in spss e.g strongly agree, agree, not sure, disagree and strongly disagree

  • @tigermancall: That's a great suggestion! We'll consider including it in our next version of SPSS.

You can use years as strings or as the "date" data type. You can use a range of dates (choose A for years 1990-2000 B 2001 - 2010, etc.) by assigning them values. What test are you running? MyCSULA team

  • what of question with yes and no answer

  • @ujubarth: If you'd like to define variables for questions with only 'yes' and 'no' answer, you can assign a label to each value (e.g., 1 for 'yes,' 2 for 'no'). When you enter your data, you can then simple select either '1' or '2' in that variable column.

We talked about this exact instruction in the "Defining Variables" section of our Part 1: Descriptive Statistics handout.

  • @injilikaiya When you are dealing with multiple response, you may make each of these answer choices into idividual variable, and assign the value (Yes, and No) to the variable. The step by step of how to assign values to the variable is covered in module: 1.3a Define Variable@ around (7:50).

For futhur information on multiple response sets please refer to :

modules 2.5 Multiple Response Define Variable Set, 2.6 Multiple Response Sets, and Like 2.7 Multiple Response Sets.

  • Can you please say; For questions where participants are alllowed to choose/tick multiple answers, how do we enter this kind of variable/data??
