One segment of an 8-part interview with legendary announcer Don Pardo. He discusses joining NBC in 1944 as a staff announcer and described his trademark announcing style. He talked about his long association with several game shows including the original The Price Is Right, Choose Up Sides (where he appeared on-camera as "Mr. Mischief"), and the original Jeopardy!. Lastly, Pardo speaks about the series for which he is most closely associated, Saturday Night Live. He then acknowledges leaving his post as staff announcer at NBC having held the position for a record 60 years and 6 months.

  • Its always great when we can put a face to one of the greatest voices in history!!!

  • This is the first time I've ever seen Don Pardo -- also didn't know his real name is DOM -- as in Dominick! Who knew? :-) Thank you SO MUCH for taping this!

  • THAT'S HIM?! WHOA! I'm glad to have finally seen even a pic of him!

  • oh wow, he's so awesome :)

  • OMG I hope Don is still okay I will be in Tucson this Saturday but Don is my friend from NY from NBC in the 80's...I use to sit with him in the announcer booth while he would read his one liners for NBC News with Tom Brokaw. I will be looking him up...He is a great person!

  • Great man! very humble.

  • What a delightful man. I'm so glad that you've done this interview. How interesting that his "normal" speaking voice sounds nothing like his announcing voice! I've gotten to meet another announcing legend, Art Gilmore, but his voice sounds like...Art Gilmore.

  • Don told me that he started as an usher in a movie theater then studied acting in college, did news reals, then was an actor announcer and director in radio in dramas like front page farrell starring richard widmark, then got in on the ground floor in televison as an anouncer .

  • See how Don can bring out that HUGE voice at will, very cool !

  • seems like pardo read the 1st bulletins on nbc of the jfk shooting
