The Banjara, a group of traditional music, consisting of eight excellent musicians and dancers, all hail from the Thar desert. Heirs of ... Tout » an ancient culture, today, under the direction of Kamal Kant, himself a musician and a dancer who has been living in France for over a decade, they are the ambassadors of the great Banjara tradition which stands at the cross roads of classical North Indian music and the skilful art of Persia. The lively rhythms, bordering frenzy, which accompany the whirling dancers in their famous costumes of a thousand, scintillating mirrors, are an invitation to a journey rich in colour and emotion, following in the footsteps of the gypsies of Rajasthan.

  • I love my India.

  • @savita1926 I am certain my original post is very calm and matter of fact. I ask you too tone down your comments. I believe its part of good upbringing. If you cannot, I shall have to report you. Thanks for understanding.

  • Truly India, where all the dreams and aspirations of Mankind find means to expression. While Jews, Zoroastrians and Christians(Syriac) were persecuted they could flee to refuge in India free of harm. When Tibet was overrun, India provided a sanctuary to them. The poor Gypsies of Europe, if only they could be brought back to their ancient homeland. The Banjara are their distant relations who did not leave India a thousand years ago.

  • Wow my surnames Rathore, majority of my family have resided in Kashmir as Muslims for hundreds of years, but I'm still so proud that even a quarter of my ancestors were Rajastanis!

There's something about Rajastani folk music, love it!

  • in europe, gypsies are threated like shit! :(

  • bhagwan

  • Wonderful. Anyone know a name/contact for this group?

  • What energy!

  • @testingmango Ither Way We Dont Know For Sure Because Both Punjab & Rajhastan Have Early Recordings Of Gypsies.

  • Actually Roma Gypsies Originated From Northwest India. Even Some Roman Words Are Very Close To Northwest Indian Languages. Because Many Northwest Indians Have Gypsy History Going As Far Back As EARLY Existence. Rajhastan Is Not The Only Place Where Its Possible For Gypsies To Have Originated. Its Possible The Gypsies Of Rajhastan Came From North West India. Its Possible The Gypsies Of Punjab(NW India) To Have Originated From Rajhastan.

  • its a nice video...iam dreaming :)
