  • At first I was like: Oh shit she's gonna cry.

then I was like: awwwwwwwwww *hug*

  • @CyberLance26 In other words, I'm not completely black and white about that term. I feel like there are appropriate times to use it, and times when it's NOT okay to use it. I was called a weeaboo recently, even though my behavior about anime is much more mature, and I got mad because I know I wasn't. Yet, I call my past self a weeaboo, because of the way I acted when it came to loving anime/jpop.

  • @CyberLance26 They also tended to speak Japanese words but never wanted to actually learn Japanese, which upset some of my Japanese friends back in high school. I remember a Japanese friend telling me that he didn't like it when I spoke Japanese. This was back when I was in that so called "weeaboo" stage and only used "anime" words like "kawaii," "baka," and "desu." After that, I began learning Japanese seriously, and my Japanese friends started looking at me in a new light.

  • @CyberLance26 Yeah, I got made fun of in school for liking anime and Jpop, etc. I've done some thinking, and ultimately I think what the biggest difference is not what they appreciate, but rather how they go on about doing it. The people I knew who were considered "weeaboos" were very rude, melo-dramatic, and persistent. They were like those extremely religious people who tried to shove their beliefs down people's throats and tell people they were going to hell for not following their religion.

  • @PeekayTom No liking Anime is fine its people that love the Japan, the culture, its history, the society, and most things about the country in general that people consider weird losers with no lifes.

I dont freaking understand why loving another country and its culture is such a terrible thing.

Here in Sweden people are obsessed with the United States and American culture and everything here is American nowadays but nobody ever calls the Swedish people weeaboos.

  • @SakuraKusanagi Sorry but its the opposite from what i see and hear.

Its ok to love Anime, Jpop and other similar stuff but if you love the country, the culture and its history then your a weirdo loser that got no life.

I dont understand why loving another country is so terrible.

I love Japan and its culture and there hundreds of things about Japan that is way better than in the western countries in my opinion.

Maybe its only normal to admire and love America and its culture.

  • @Leevizer I don't think it is the anime itself, I think it is the behavior differences. An anime fan and a weeaboo can both be watching the exact same anime, yet one can still tell the difference between who is who.

  • @CyberLance26 You make an excellent point. I happen to be a huge lover/appreciator of other countries. I think the the term "weeaboo" isn't targeted towards ALL Japanese lovers. People who fall underneath this category don't generally like Japan as a whole, but only like the fact that it makes anime/Jpop/Jrock/etc. From personal experiences, these people (not all) tend to be offensive; they refuse to know nothing about actual Japanese history and culture, ONLY said things above.

  • @EpicLittleIcarus You find what to be mediocre? I can't find the previous comment I made. Dx But whatever it is, it is your opinion. You have every right to like what you like. The fact that you said your opinion without attacking somebody else for theirs is highly respectful.
