This is a short film of the Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence River in North America circa 1929. It was made by a motion-picture and slide-film producer named Ernest M. Reynolds (1894-1980) of Cleveland, Ohio. It appears that this clip was part of a larger 16mm film that ran 154 minutes. There are glimpses of Alexandria Bay in New York, Rockport in Ontario, Boldt Castle (built by the proprietor of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City) , and Zavikon Island. This clip was spliced together with my grandmother's films.
Great to see the Thousand Island Hotel but even better to see the Rockport shoreline with the Cornwall and Plunkett boathouses, cheese factory, even Hickory Lodge in the background. Although cut & edited, it appears the whole clip was filmed from the upper foredeck of the General Hancock on a single crossing (not the Roosevelt).
