I thought it was about time to get rid of the POS chinese made 3" paper cone subwoofer in a plastic box by RCA and get something real. Well the first thing that came to mind when I thought of SQL subwoofers was RE of course. I went ahead and ordered an REX 10" Dual 4 ohm subwoofer and mounted it in an Atrend box (usually Ben, me or someone else in AST would've built the box, but I didn't have time so I just ordered one; it can handle an REX just fine and it sounds pretty good). The REX series is rated at 175W RMS (the lowest of all RE products), but it can still push a LOT of air. The sub is wired in series to give a final impedance load of 8 ohms (the RCA home theater receiver it is connected to will only work at that impedance). The receiver is putting out about 180W, just above the sub's RMS rating (I forgot to mention this in the video). The audio is streaming digitally in fully uncompressed LPCM stereo from the original CD via optical cable from my PS3 (which has also upscaled the sampling frequency from 44.1 kHz to 88.2 kHz) to the receiver.
The song being played is "Can U Hear Me?", which is track 2 (disc 1) from 1998's Sonic Overload by Bass Mekanik. The low frequency drops after that are from the same album on disc 2, tracks 10 and 11.
how do you like your sub??

@1Pueblito I love it man. That sub only cost me about $54 and i'm getting about 115 db (when using the correct hardware and adjusting its placement to prevent cancellation) in my bedroom!

Sorry, I tried opening my blinds some, but I guess I should've opened them all the way. It actually was brighter than that, but my camera didn't capture it that way... :/
