flightSim - Christchurch - 2011.02 post-quake Flight Simulator

some random virtual 'flights' around Christchurch, as after the second (2011.02.22) of three major earthquakes; I ported the government commissioned dataset to MicroSoft Flight Simulator X


data acquired on 2011.02.24 by NZ Aerial Mapping Ltd for the Christchurch Response Centre, available courtesy of Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), hosted by koordinates.com; Crown Copyright Reserved

widescale and extensive damage caused by liquefaction is evident.

more about the quality of the data set, detail within FlightSimX and graphics refresh speed than my poor flying skills, and the tragic and ongoing reality for Christchurch

data set resolution is MS Flight Sim X (level of detail) LOD 17

6gb dataset and (Red Baron) mesh is running from 2 x crucial 64gb SSD's in raid-0, whilst simultaneously capturing to a single harddisk
[better method would have been to run dataset and mesh from a (system memory) ramdisk, and capture to SSD raid... next time]

asus rampage iii gene mb, i7-960@3.2ghz cpu, Scythe mini-ninja cooler, Seasonic 650w psu, Antec nsk2480 htpc-style case, 24gb ram.
single nvidia Evga-gtx460ee video, running a pair of Matrox triplehead2go's (driving 6 lcd's), but here only one TH2Go is active, driving 3 lcd's to 3840 x 1024 pixels.
