Basically, raising of the minumum wage decreases the incentive employers have for hiring workers, thus increasing the umemployment rate. Guess this revelation just isn't as 'amazing' as you previously thought it to be.

Unfortunately that is misinformation. If there was no minimum wage what would prevent employers from paying $1 an hour or $.10 a day like the oversees sweatshops? How could anyone get any wage without a minimum base starting point? The problem isn't with minimum wage it is with greedy companies. Besides a lower minimum wage drives down the economy or haven't you noticed the last 6 years?

You completely are missing the point. I am not knocking you but it is clear that you have never had any economics. The Job market is no different than any other market. As long as the employee has the power to go to someone paying a better salary the employer is forced to keep a competetive wage. How is your salary set? Is the government involved?

I guess my 10+ years of running a business in the real world and not out of a textbook means I have no idea about how economics works. Your reason is why corporations are outsourcing jobs to other countries. They don't pay a fair wage, or health insurance, yet make enormous profits.

So In your opinion eliminating the minimum wage makes companies more competitive. By more competitive you mean on the stock market. There is no way that eliminating the minimum wage is good for society. Without a living wage more people enter the poverty level. The middle class is eliminated. And more people will be on unemployment and applying for welfare. Just so a few CEOs can keep their vacation homes in Aspen.

@Truthseeker37 You're kind of both missing the point. The main driver of unemployment is intervention in the market, not necessarily strictly the minimum wage portion. The argument or debate is more complex than you both let on in your R vs D football team argument. I'd tentatively say that yes, the minimum wage itself with nothing else unchanged is not a good thing to drop. But if you drop all welfare protecting entrenched corporations that get preferential treatment... diff.
