A film about the violent policing of peaceful protest at the G20 Climate Camp in London's financial District. Roughly four thousand people, intending to camp in Bishopsgate, outside the European Climate Exchange in protest against capitalism's failure to deal with climate change (and more of humanities real problems), were stampeded by riot police and beaten out of the area, whilst being trapped in at both ends, by lines of armored police.

The blatantly political policing of Climate Camp went almost completely unrecorded by the mainstream media.

Peoples property was destroyed in the police rampage.

Scores of people who stood up to police lines were injured by batons or shields.

When the street was cleared in the morning, most of the private property left in the wreckage, such as bags and tents, was 'skipped'.

  • James, i don't understand, there are no jobs on a dead planet. the ballot box for people to 'protest' through, won't solve the issues we have to solve for our survival, we don't have that much time. Unless people act collectively to create change, in the way that they have always done to further humanity, then what kind of future are you hoping for?

  • The joint Parliamentary Human Rights Committee on the policing of Protest:

"Whilst protest may be disruptive or inconvenient the presumption should be in favour of protest taking place without state interference.

"Human Rights law makes it very clear that the balance should always be in favour of those seeking to assert their right to protest, unless there is strong evidence for interfering with their right."

  • James and Evil. Speaking of messages passed on to future generations - what kind of message is this police violence to peaceful protesters going to give? Its going to make people more afraid do to anything about issues they may care about...If this kind of policing is accepted, then our can you expect us to have an emergent society, or to create a sustainable future? If when people stand up for what they believe in they are treated this way...

  • I suppose there's nothing here you could charge a police officer over, but what comes over crystal clear is that the police are desperate for some action - they're pumped up and salivating for a chance to smash someone's face in. It's like listening to hungry pigs squealing. They were probably quite disappointed that the protesters were so peaceful and civilized.

  • The building was squatted; they weren't there illegally. It was illegally raided by the police though, and the use of the taser is against police guidelines . And beating up the person by the door as the police come in was a bit unnecessary.

  • Umm, check your facts. squatting is a civil matter between the owner of the building and the squatters, not a criminal one. You simply cannot be arrested unless the owner has applied to the high court and that almost certainly hasn't happened in this case.

You seem completely blind to the fact that civil disobedience is about justice and rights in places where the law is completely inadequate. case in point, Rosa Parks. would you rather our "up and coming generations" lived with segregation?!

  • There are legal ways to squat buildings, and this was a legal squat as far as i know. Can you prove they forced entry??

There are legal ways to remove squatters. This does not involve raiding buildings and threatening people with taser's!!

It looks like it was the police who were acting illegally!

  • Listen to what the government, police, and independent observers are all saying and you'll see that we have a right to protest. The guidance to police is to only intervene in extreme circumstances. The Climate Camp had a carnival atmosphere with freedom of movement all day, then the police baton charged. How do you think most this country's citizens got the right to go to the ballot box?? By protest!!

They were not breaking the law by holding this protest, so no need for police aggression!!

  • Jesus! OMG!!! They are mental! yes at 3.30 it gets bloody scary i hope and pray everyone is ok, that is bloody traumatising
