Quake is a first-person shooter developed and published by id Software in 1996. This first-person shooter introduced 3D models instead of 2D sprites and the use of lightmaps and 3D light sources. The player takes the role of an un-named protaganist sent into a portal in order to stop an enemy codenamed "Quake".

Hexen2 and Heretic2 are the only games which I like that are running on this engine. Otherwise, I'm not really a Quaker.

Heretic II ran on the Quake II (id Tech 2) engine. It's a nice game, especially if you play it on OpenGL.
