Major General Fred Haynes, USMC (Ret.)

General Haynes is a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was an infantry officer for 35 years and commanded the second Marine division and the third Marine division. He was also the senior member of the U.S. military at the U.N. military armistice at Pat, Mun Jom, Korea.

    It is time our government be held accountable. It seems strange to hear Pres. Bush insist, "we don't torture", but then threaten to VETO the new legislation banning torture, just passed by the House, and pending approval by the Senate.

    IF WE DON'T DO IT -- WHY VETO LEGISLATION BANNING IT, Mr. President/Vice Pres.?

    How could "torture/interrogation" tapes be "destroyed" if we DON'T DO TORTURE?
