Researchers from Stanford University are tagging female leatherback turtles with beacons to find out more about their migration routes.

  • You think efforts to save a species are a waste?

  • They drop off after 10 months so that they don't constrain the females as they grow larger. They had the data they needed. There's no sense in further stressing the animals at that point.

    $460k, while a lot for an individual, is nothing in terms of research.
