Original Trailer of the movie, based on the well known comedy by Oscar Wilde "The Importance of Being Earnest"

The plot revolves around two men in Edwardian England, John (Jack) Worthing and Algernon (Algy) Moncrieff. Whenever Jack travels to London from his Hertfordshire estate he says he is going to see his (fictitious) wayward brother Ernest. Once in London he keeps his privacy by calling himself Ernest. This tactic is especially important as his beloved, Gwendolen, declares that she could only love a man named Ernest. Her cousin, Algy, is the one person who knows Jack's secret and one day he travels down to the estate, announcing himself to Jack's attractive ward Cecily as the infamous Ernest. Cecily is enamoured with him and his name, and upon Jack's return home and Gwendolen's unexpected arrival it becomes clear there are both too many and too few Ernests earnestly courting. (Wikipedia ENG)

Very well done movie in my opinion, with two of the best english actors, Colin Firth and Rupert Everett, both perfect here in their roles! but we have not to forget the co-stars Reese Whiterspoon, Frances O'Connor and Judi Dench!!
Funny and enjoyable! (look out for the song the two men start singing to the ladies)

-I do not own material in the vid. It is published without any profict-

  • the trailer sucks compaired to the movie! the movie is so freaking good. my drama class watched it today. we are doing Importance for our next play and im Cecily!

  • @TheLightsandcandy yes, i have to admit actually this is not one of the best movie trailers ^^'

but the movie it's GREAT =) always cheer up when i watch it!

    cool, you're doing the play!!

  • eeeek... i'm probably one of the 2% of women who find colin firth not all that, Everett as Jack, perfect, just as i imagined what Jack would look like but Firth as Algernon...they should have gotten someone else. btw the way, the men are supposed to be in their late 20s...it really irritates me when the casting not done properley...if a new adaptation was to be made then Ben Barnes would make a good Jack and Hugh Dancy as Algernon.

  • @stupidintellect90 ...Actually...in this movie Colin Firth is Jack and Rupert Everett is the perfect Algernon!! =)

  • @WeirdMaRy91 ha, what a silly mistake! i haven't watched it yet but in that case Firth seems a better choice for Jack and i can imagine Everett acting brilliantly as Algernon.

  • @stupidintellect90 =) don't worry!!! well, Rupert Everett IS The Perfect Dandy... it seems acting as Algy is almost natural for him... I love his work in Earnest... he's wonderful!! and Firth does a briliant work as Jack, making the character shy, and sweet =) i admit i haven't wached other movie versions of Earnest, so i can't say if there's something better than this movie! have you watched another movie??

anyway, if you have time, watch this one, 90 mins of funny movie at least =)=)

  • well its an ENGLISH play written in 1894

  • I somehow imagined Colin Firth to be Algernon, not Jack... Don't know, it seems to fit him better. But then again I imagined Gwendolen to be blonde and Cecily to have dark hair, so it was all completely different ^^

  • Why use 'Mr Action Movie' for the voice on this trailer?

  • @beatboxbenton626 I trust your post will encourage conversation. One wants something that will encourage conversation, particularly at the end of the season when every one has practically said whatever they had to say, which, in most cases, was probably not much.

  • saw it. soooooooooooooo boring!

  • This is the next play that my school is doing and I just got the part of Gwendolyn! I'm so excited for it (:

  • This version looks so shit. Not funny at all.

  • @sweetkagome99 me too.. she talks WAY too much..
