Many major car manufacturers are in the process of developing fuel cell cars, but currently, the production of hydrogen for commercial distribution is still tied to natural gas. Discover why there is a lack of an infrastructure for the storage and distribution of fuel cell cars with help from a biofuels activist in this free video on alternative fuels for cars.

Long term storage isn't a problem if it's separated out at point of use. That's where the actual cell research is focused.
If it's taken from hydrocarbon fuel, as opposed to hydrolysis, then it becomes more viable. Also, the energy density problem (such as with batteries) doesn't become an issue, as the two are far closer in the at-point solution.

There is another problem, and that is storage. Long term storage. Once that is solved all the other problems are just tactical issues.
