9000 bouncy balls in a stairway

As a final senior project, our math class took a note from the Sony Bravia commercial and launched 9000 superballs in a stairway at our school. It was awesome. The project was "modeling fluid dynamics in a closed system using finite particles"

Ha I love the enthusiasm. The song is the one used in the Sony Bravia commercial on the same theme (except they used ~500k...). It's called Heartbeats, performed by Jose Gonzalez. you can wikipedia BRAVIA and find more info

Ha its a valid question. The way we purchased the bouncy balls was through a bulk retailer (think the bouncy balls you get via a vending machine) so we went around offering people 100 bouncy balls for $5.... provided we could "borrow" them first.
So to answer your question, we gave almost all of them back to those who purchased them. However, since not everyone came to pick them up, I still have ~2000 sitting in my dorm at college, very much looking forward to future usages that may come up.
