MP Dayasiri removed from Sri Lanka Parliament for revealing crimes 06 oct 2011

An eye opening speech by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara on brutal crimes in Sri Lanka was disrupted and was removed from parliament 13:12 . Sri Lanka should be a violence free society after elimination of LTTE terrorism. But in reality, it is shameful to say that most crimes are done by people who are with power: politicians and police; there is no law and order in Sri Lanka. Committing brutal violences during election times in Sri Lanka are well known tradition for years. It is so common tradition that most violences are committed by Sri Lankan legislators (together with their supporters )and law enforcement officers (police). In this video member of parliament (from opposition) Dayasiri Jayasekara criticised on-going crimes done by police and politicians but his speech was disrrupted and he was removed from the parliament. Two days after this debate, two politicians shot each other on poll-day at polling station. During shooting incident one MP (former deputy minister currently a presidential advisor) killed another MP cortically injured. After shooting incident MP Dayasiri said " If parliament heard my speech and took action to prevent crime the murder shooting could have avoided." UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekara was removed from the House on the orders of the Chair occupied by A H M Azwer. The Sargent-at-Arms was ordered to remove Jayasekara from the Chamber for making derogatory speech which criticized the Police. It was a priviliege of the Member of Parliament to expose the brutality of the Police and the removal of the MP was a blatant violation of Parliamentary democracy.The Chair ordered that Jayasekara;s speech be expunged from the Hansard and suspended sitting for 10 minutes.

It is shocking that the Chair of the Speaker was misused by a misfit to protect the brutality of the Police which is common knowledge. Where else can these be discussed? The Parliament procedures have been desecrated. It is not the duty of the Parliament to cover up the attrocities in a democracy. It is a shame on the Chair and memebers of the parliament for not being able to respect freedom of expression of member of parliament and evading the responsibility to build a violence free society in Sri Lanka.

Oct 10 (Island) Duminda suporter shot Bharatha in the head. The driver of the slain Presidential Advisor Bharatha, relaying the saga of the Kolonnawa tragedy after narrowly escaping death, said that Duminda Silva got down from the vehicle at the Walpola junction and proceed to assault his boss. "Sir fell immediately. Then one of the persons who was near Duminda shot Bharatha Mahattaya in his foot Then someone shouted: "shoot him in his head". Oct 11 (Island) Premachandra killing suspect arrested with 16 guns. A suspect arrested in connection with Saturday's killing of Presidential Adviser Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra in Mulleriyawa, was found to be in possession of 16 guns. His armoury included 12 pistols, two revolvers and two T-56 automatics. Jan 5, 2012 (DM) 'Removal of Dayasiri clear act of victimisation'. UNP MP Sujeewa Sensinghe said today that the removal of Dayasiri Jayasekara as the Deputy National Organiser of the party was arbitrary and was an act of victimisation. “I don’t know who has taken this decision but it is clearly an act of victimisation against those who have spoken towards taking the party and the country forward, Jayasekara was one of the most talented individuals in the party.

Jan 5 (CT) Dayasiri removed as Depy Chief Opposition Whip. Kurunegala District MP Dayasiri Jayasekera has been removed from his position as the Deputy Chief Opposition Whip yesterday by the Advisory Committee of the party. At the same time, Committee has removed UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa from the Deputy Opposition Leader position too. These decisions were made at the first UNP Advisory Committee meeting for the year 2012, held at Sirikotha today

Nov 29 (DM) Duminda’s bed ticket filed in court. The CID yesterday filed in court, parliamentarian Duminda Silva’s bed ticket issued by consultant Neurosurgeon Maheshi Wijeratne.
