It was the one in the Junkyard. The first ever episode. I've been a Dr Who fan from the start.
It was the last thing he ever did. I remember seeing him in "Carry on Sergeant" probably where they got the idea to use him.

@CreepyReid Although I'm only 27 I'm a BIG fan of all those old shows (thanks to DVDs and the like) and I enjoy them very much
I often go on here to find old programs and movies to download, but its always nice to find comments from people who remember them when they first went out.
Just checking though, was the first episode you saw, in fact the FIRST EVER episode (namely the one in the junkyard, rather than the first Dalek one)
I hope you don't mind me asking..

Nice to see old Billy Hartnell in something other than 'Doctor Who' on youtube (although he was brill as the Doctor in any case)
Just wondering, is there any of William Hartnell (or stuff by other actors from the classic series as I'm strictly an old school Dr Who fan you see) other stuff on youtube that you can recomend?
This clip was good by the way.

William Hartnell was the first Doctor Who. I remember the first episode.

Unless I'm much mistaken, wasn't William Hartnell the very first 'Dr Who'?

The first 2 series went out 'live' thats why most are missing, not many were recorded, they were made similar to American comedies ie: using several different writers & around 40+ shows a year..

i had an idea that the first series were `wiped' most series were on all the channels before `71'. cost cutting exercise. mystery and imagination would be a classic example of that. only one third of the episodes survive. all the best, sonybimp

hi lester 1beck! sorry for the long delay in replying. william hartnell was the first sarge, then bill frazier took over. william hartnell returned to the series much later and replaced frazier. many of the episodes are missing. lets hope they are gathering dust in an archive somewhere! all the best, sonybimp.
