Felix Cartal spent his early years as a musical pinch hitter... filling in for local Vancouver rock bands whenever they suddenly needed a member. After taking a class on MIDI production in high school, however, Cartal realized both the advantages of being a solo artist and the power of producing with Reason. His sound still borrows heavily from his punk rock origins, using synths to convey the heaviness and aggression normally coming from guitar amps.

After successful releases on Steve Aoki's Dim Mak Records and tours with MSTRKRFT, Felix Cartal is still driven by his band roots both in sound and production philosophy.

  • why is he still usin reason 4?

  • @TWMusicBerlin Actually that's Reason 3.0!! He uses Reason 5 now but since his album was started before Reason 4 came out, he never upgraded to 4.0 because he didn't want to change anything about his setup before finishing his album. Then 5.0 came out and he upgraded but when he showed us his song, he loaded it in Reason 3 since that's what he made it in.

  • what was this filmed with? t3i?

  • @vootman Lots of artists start out with your average type of production just to develop those skills and grow from there. Gotta learn how to start that engine in order to drive perfectly with music

  • FEEEELIIIIXXX!!!! ;D

  • @nikolafeve Ça fait quelque chose oui, tu peux controller des filtres, le pitch, en fait n'importe quel effet de Reason, tu peux les assigner à des boutons et jouer avec la musique qui joue pour lui donner le feeling du moment.

  • great video

  • Got to see how some of my favorite tracks were made, thanks!

  • I fon chier les dj a faire croire ki tourne des boutons en live alors ke ca fais ke dalle. Ca commence vraiment a me faire ces attitudes d acteurs a la con!

  • It amazes me just how many people like shitty techno. I think a monkey could make that shit.
