My parents were overly strict! I couldnt have guy friends till i was 16 i couldnt date till i was 18 and note i was homeschooled by my mother. We went to bed at 7pm and when we woke we cleaned the house and took care of the farm. Ill tell you one thing i was a virgin till i was 20! Lol when i moved out on my own. I respect my parents the way they raised me was not just strict and sheltered but with love and planting seeds for my life. I thank my parents even though it was a bit over the top. :)

My parents struggled because they divorced when I was 2 - so they both always wanted to be the nice guy. I hope to give my children more structure and consistency than my parents did.

@chousholder I had a similar upbringing. Mom was an alcoholic, very loving, she raised us real strict. In fact when we got in trouble she spanked us with an extention cord.Ouch!! Mom sent us to church with our grandmother. But later, when I was grown and left home, she gave her life to Christ. She got sober, an we had a great relationship. She was my best friend, until she past 2004. I raised my sons pretty strict, their grown now, but my daughter is 10 she is a handful, but still a delight.

I grew up with very overprotective traditional mexican parents. I was not allowed to do many things or make my own decisions, even if they were responsible. My dad believed that providing for the family was enough. More importantly I wish they would have introduced me to God early in my childhood. I did like that i was fortunate to have both my parents. I will definetly raise my children inthe ways of The Lord and protect them, just not so much like my parents pritected me.

My Parents were really strict. At times I hated it in my teen years, but i would have to say that they did there job. And now that i am married and have my own baby I have even more respect for them. And I am so thankful that they were strict with me and kept me going in the right direction. I will for sure be taking tips from my parents.

My parents were wonderful! They tried their best to be fair when I was naughty, and always reminded me they cared. They may have been strict, but they were always fair. My mom and I always had special days a week to go to coffee or snack at a restaurant together. It was just us, and it was something I could count on, even when I got older.

Hello!

My mum was natural. Only using homeopathy, we were brought up vegan, no immunisations, but as i was her third and she was a single parent she couldn't manage breast feeding so used soya formula especially ordered in.

I have kept most of her parenting ways with my 9 month old daughter, but i have exclusively breast fed her! Which i LOVE!
