Rolling Thunder 2009 - Ride of the Patriots - Fairfax to Arlington

I had the amazing honor of riding in Rolling Thunder this year with a friend of mine with my video camera. It was truly incredible. This video is from the Ride of the Patriots, which was a large group (several thousand) of riders who met early at Patriot Harley in Fairfax to ride together to the Pentagon, and then ride through DC with Rolling Thunder. I'll be putting up the Pentagon to DC video a little later.

Sorry it's choppy... kind of tough to film from the back of a bike! Also, it's just the raw video so there's a lot of wind sound, especially when we get going fast.

I rode this ride today with my cousin who was shot in Fallujah...then went on to do a 2nd tour. Run your mouth if it makes you feel good. You can do that thanks to soldiers.

We rode for his friends who DIED and can't talk. And those still fighting. We are just 1 of 500k

Sorry,I shouldn't have used "useless idiots". I have respect for what Memorial Day means and most of you guys are riding to honor our falling soldiers, with the most honorable intentions. These soldiers, just kids, fight and die for our freedom. Sometimes, I get very frustrated, helpless, watching the news coming out of Washington. Maybe, I'm just hoping for someone or some cause to rally around. I don't have any polities, I just remember when America stood for Freedom. Live to ride Jim

I hear you, and I understand your passion and what you mean. I think the frustrations that everyone feels are a big reason that so many people come out to rallies like this. It's a chance to feel usefulness and unity, where many of the folks that show up may feel useless and "enslaved" in their daily lives. I can also see how people might see this as a showy or even hollow demonstration, but in the ride, you can feel the spirit of freedom. I've rarely felt more free than I did yesterday.

What a load of bullshit "Ride of the Patriots". "We're riding for our falling soldiers and POW's". Well, did anyone stop and think what our falling soldiers died for. It's "Freedom" And a 1.8 trillion dollar deficit this year will make us slaves to the State. Where's the outrage? I'm sick and tired of hearing this POW crap. How many of these "Patriots" got on a flight to Vietnam, rented a car and went looking for POW's. Useless idiots... I'm going for a ride on my V-rod. God help us. Jim
