James, one of our ASE Master Mechanics, gives a short explanation of blown head gasket symptoms.
He gives a few basic signs and symptoms so that non-mechanics can have an idea of what has happened to their car.
Hi James,
I'm really hoping that you can help me,
Two weeks ago I had to change the turbo due to mass loss of power and a wining noise.
(sorry it's an astra 1.7 cdtdi 07 plate) changed the turbo all is well for another 1,500 miles.
I noticed that I had to keep filling the water every day (a full bottle) no signs of leaks, the water only drops during driving. no signs of water in the oil but the oil level rises, could this be a head gasket? also I have oil in the air pipes and exhaust. Dean
