The M-24 Chaffee. Comisioned in 1942 to be the Replacement of the M3 Stuart, it diden't arrive untill Christmas 1944 During the Battle of the Bulge.
This is currently 1 of the very and longest still in service Armored Vehicle.

  • Um, how come nobody ever seems to mention that light tanks are not meant for combat, and especially not meant for combat against MAIN battle tanks?? Light tanks are called "reconnaissance" tanks in other countries because that is their proper function.

    All the main gun is meant to do is hit back when attacked, and the idea is to scout in force without getting engaged with an enemy force more powerful than your piddly 75mm gun.

    A great tank, to be sure, but you need to put things in perspective.
