You're assuming the best MPs are motivated by a pension - versus the chance to take things in the right direction. ...You know, down South, Ron Paul gave back his pension :)

Actually a percentage is. If you die your wife would get =/- 60% of the CPP you would have received for the rest of your life. I receive a survivors benefit from CPP every month now that my wife has passed. I know it's not all of it but at least it is something.

@NoGoodHandlesLeft Well I mostly agree with you that MP shouldn't be worrying about their paycheck, to some extent, every adult that has a family is going to want a good paycheck. Besides that though, their pensions are ridiculous.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I would reply that a truly good MP wouldn't care about the pension or the paycheck. They would simply want to serve their country even if it did cause harm to other aspects of their life.
