The illustration is from McGuffey's 2nd Eclectic Reader (1800-1873) and has to do with two young boys who find a large nut and argue over who should have it. They ask an older boy to settle their argument- he gives each of them half of the shell and keeps the meat of the nut for himself- IR is being cute and obscure about the Nobel prize, I suppose
wtf... i dont get it, whats going on with the nut. why are they quareling over it, whats with the nobel prize winner? how does he relate to the nut? im so confused
