Do you find yourself spending your work time focused on everything other than the work itself? Do you wonder what it would take to build implicit trust between yourself and your peers? The relationship between designers and developers should be a powerful one, as you are the people building the product. I've been working in the industry for fifteen years and only just recently learned how to focus my efforts on what I do best: designing software. As a designer at Valve, I've finally learned to stop worrying and love the engineers, and I'm interested in sharing how this came to be. My work is engaging, rewarding and meaningful to me because I'm able to focus on customer needs rather than company politics. Imagine that! It's what work was meant to be.
