If Corso isn't lying, then he should have been afraid. Basically Corso Jr., your father is among the group of men who brought upon the end of humanity as we know it.
I've stated it before in other comments. If Corso is tellign the truth, then he and the other men were ignorant. Roswell, if it was real, was a trojan horse. They wanted humans to ge the technology and build it.
