  • By recording a line, listening, fixing things and recording it over and over again, I began to close the gap of what I THOUGHT I sounded like and what I REALLY sounded like.

Now, when I hear my voice recorded, it sounds like the one in my ears, so I can make adjustments real-time.

I guess that's where I learned to sing. Does that answer the questions?

  • Thanks, pranksterxyz.

Um, I haven't really had vocal training, apart from a really good choir director in middle school.

A big breakthrough came for me when I started recording myself with a little tape player and listening to my voice. You know how when you listen to a yourself on in a voicemail and say, "Ew! I don't sound like that!"?

Well, I think that most people can hear when other people sound "off," but can't tell when they are.

  • great job,great voice,great work my brother.

  • Thanks...

  • that was really good.. you sing so soft and its so easy to listen to. great job!

  • Thanks. I record most of these after the kids are in bed, so I try to sing soft enough to not wake them up. I think it sounds better that way; it's very easy to overssing.

  • definitely - it seems that you have had a passion for singing for many years which probably contributed to your talent. how many years would you say you have been actively improving? (ie using your method of practicing). also i am a talented guitarist i don't know if you'd be interested in collaborating - i can play jeff buckley's version of this as well as widow of a living man (and many others) spot on.

  • dude, absolutely amazing- i dont generally comment but i spend a lot of time listening to covers and checking out many vocals and your vocals are top notch. I must ask you how you got this good?? how many years did it take? how do you practice? did you go to a vocal instructor? sorry for so many questions but please answer them :)

  • So weird, when I heard you sing "Raining in Baltimore" I immediately thought of how your voice would sound singing this song. Only thought is if you had done the jeff buckley version vs. the cohen one. Complete Props though, I loved it!!!

  • WOW what a wonderful voice. I love your control and the tone and texture of your voice is like nothing I have heard before. What a wonderful song for you to song. I have gone through many of your songs and will try to go back and comment on each one when I can. But thank you for being here on YouTube and posting these gems. May love be with all you do, touch and care about.
