1965 Japanese anime based loosely on Gulliver's Travels. This frightning scene takes place on the Star of Hope which has been taken over by robots. Screenplay was written by Shinichi Sekizawa. In one of his earliest animation jobs, a young Hayao Miyazaki also worked on this film. He is uncredited.

  • When I watched this movie as a kid, I loved this part mostly for the music.

    Watching it now, I can see a dark statement about the over-dependence on technology, made ironic due to today's everyday use by idiots who uses cell phones, IPods, computers and...uh...

    Well anyway, I can also see an slight nod towards Orwell's 'Big Brother' state which, sadly, America is slowly becoming like.

    Maybe the writer was sneaking in a message...

  • Oh. My. God. I've had Rise Robots Rise in my head for like forty years (they used to show this movie on TV in Indy every Easter or something) but I was never able to find out what it was associated with. When you are just a few years old you don't catalog things well. Kewl! Thanks for saving my brain.

  • I haven't seen this in years. i was a kid when i saw this in New York City Manhattan. They showed it on a pay movie channel called, Showtime must have been in their animation segment area. I forgot the name, and what it was about. All I could remember was the Rise Robots Rise song. It was engraved in my head. I searched on youtube before but didn't find it. when I searched 4 it, all i can put in the field is, Rise Robots RIse. now i found it, and can now die happy. thx 4 posting it.

  • Thanks for posting this! I remember seeing this at the movies when I was 11 years old. It only cost me .50 cents to see it!   • Damn! I had been looking for this for years! Didn't remember the name of the movie--- when I would describe it to my peers (especially sing the song) they'd look at me as if I'd lost my mind lol
