U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo and Joyce Kaufman-Radio Talkhost ( www.850WFTL.com )Advocates of making English the "official language" of the U.,S. debate Jose Cancela and MiguelPerez who demand we Americans must pander to them by providing their Spanish speakingImmigrants with multiple services in Spanish. They expect U.S. taxpayers to pay for Spanish Language translations in schools, government agencies, welfare offices, Social Security Offices, Drivers License Tests and Spanish language Voting Ballots! Why should we Americans pay taxes for Spanish language translations? Especially when they know before coming to the U.S. that our Common language is English.

Jose Cancela & Migeul Perez being in the media business are deliberately profiting by keeping their ethnic group speaking only Spanish! If their Spanish Speaking people begin speaking English, they would lose immediate control of their masses in politics as well as lost profits going to the English language media instead.

Also, it is highly outrageous that Rick Sanchez says his own Cuban exile parents live in Miami since coming here from Cuba in 1960 they still "can't speak English" after coming to Miami in 1960! That was 48 years ago! Culdn't they atleast learn 20 words per year? Rick Sanchez just began running his outrageously biased programs on
CNN on Miami's English language conflicts
with his Spanish language speakers in Miami who refuse to learn English even when they
choose to come to live in an English speaking country such as the USA.

When in Rome do as the Romans do.

  • Look at Belgium, they have 3 national languages, French, Dutch and German and their country is falling apart based on the cultural and language differences. There are even talks of splitting up the country. Countries that are multilingual simply don't work, there must be something that binds a country together and for America it is English!

  • No this Illegal "immigrant" should not get the money back it was gained illegally, the same way Drug Dealers gain thier money illegally. The government has the resposibilty to make sure people are not making illegal financial gains.

  • As an argentinian I'll say that if you are living in a country wich language is english, you have the obligation of learning it, even a basic. Example: here are a lot of chinese markets and they have to learn spanish, is like them (living in my country) tell me that i have to learn chinese...i'd feel ofended. Besides english is a beautiful and easy language. You can keep spanish for home or another spanish people, but have to learn english too.

  • Maybe they don't want him earning money illegally and taking back to another country!!

And I believe that English should be the language of the U.S. I'm sick to death of having to press 1 for English!!

  • I SAY HE GETS HIS MONEY BACK!!! PINCHE USA!!

  • @noybf I don't claim that I know how to solve this issue but I feel this is a good place to start.

  • @SekyinB Irish is not a widely used language because it was forbidden by the English. The last person in my family to speak it fluently were my great grandparents. My grandparents knew some Irish but never became fluent. My dad and I barely know any Irish other than a few words. Anyways my point being, using "English only" is not just a slogan, it symbolizes culture, a shared history. We need to have that as a country, otherwise we won't have one.

  • @noybf What do you mean by making English the only official? stop government servicing in Spanish? limiting the use of Spanish in public and education? Official language is just a name. Being "official" itself doesn't mean anything. Irish is the first official language of Ireland by constitution but now one uses it. If you really wanna tackle the issue, you gotta come up with something more concrete than a slogan like "English only"
