Yes, he is... He was doing cocaine during this movie and wasn't eating or sleeping so he got very thin. He only weighed around 85lbs... By the way: I LOVE your username! Wish I'd thought of it!
@LadyBowie1119 It makes more sense in the original novel. In the novel it's explained that Newton's got hollow bones and he's used to being on a world with a much lighter gravitational pull so the pressure on the elivator (lift) caused him to get a bloody nose, faint, and in the novel also break one of his legs.
Wow, Candy Clark must have been STRONG to carry David Bowie! Well... Not THAT strong since he wasn't eating very much during this time... Anyway, you hardly see a woman carry a man that way...
Try Bibliocity(dot)com. It usually has some good competitive prices. Don't pay more than thirteen dollars. It's worth more but you can get it cheap if you know where to look. On ebay do a search for 'Man who fell tO Earth' Leave off 'the' and the search will go better.
Try ebay. Any version from 1963, and the Avon edition from 1976 (black cover with Bowie) and the 1978 hard cover editions are the original text. The first revised version is the British edition from 1976 (white cover with Bowie).

At 1:29 when Mary-Lou picked him up, I've wondered this when I noticed it: How did he get a bloody nose?
