  • Purple top turnips grow a bulb that the cows like. Cows like the purple top better than the newer varieties. Try it to see. Purple top seed is much less costly than the "fancy" varieties. Fall oats have lots of sugars and cows LOVE to eat them. Turnips can flavor the milk, so only give a little after milking and let them fill up on other pasture or hay. Japanese millet or sorghum sudan works better for a warm season annual. Lots of forage!
