your computer can probably only take a certain amount of ram, if its the same computer as this guys i think its 2.5 gig or something

hi dude...very great tutorial :)
but i have a problem... i had 1 gb pre-isntalled... now i brought another 2 gb...
but when i have inserted both,it does not boot..(black screen and the light is on all time)
when i only have 1 stick inserted (does nto matter if 1 gb or 2 gb),it works just fine?1
so is this normal that i cannot use like both of them? thanx you!
