The quality of Mr Hopkins acting in this film is truly on another level, always one of my favourites this.

Capt. Bligh is incorrectly portrayed in film and print as a sadistic, cruel villain. In fact, he was a lenient commander who would often lash rather than hang sailors for serious offenses.
Capt. Cook was the one who was vicious and brutal towards his men.

Bligh best navigator in yhe world

I always liked the scenes of the board of inquiry (or inquest). It really grounds the film.

Great movie, beautiful ending, amazing music. Vangelis's music as always takes a good movie, and elevates it to a whole different plane.

Love this film. What punishment would Bligh received if he had been found guilty for the loss of his ship?

One of the best films about the bounty I ever saw.

@hamd101a Hope you don't mind me responding to a comment from a full year ago, but the reason Bligh was old for a lieutenant (though plenty of officers got stuck in a doldrums in their career) was because he, like James Cook, had begun his career not as an officer - in his case a cabin boy at age 7, then served as an able seaman but was eligible to become a midshipman thanks to his literacy. He spent some years afterwards as masters mate and then sail master (given his promotion by Cook oddly)

@TheSadieChannel Toronto International Film Festival. Hopkins broke his foot and couldn't make it.
