The 6th annual 2009 Student Television Network convention was held for the very first time on the East coast in Orlando, Florida from March 17-21, 2009. Students in Television Production classes from all over the nation attend breakout sessions and compete in several contests testing their skills in anchoring, writing, etc. This popular STN Category contest involves producing a "FILM" in 16 hours. The script is given to you with an open ending. The "FILM" is judged on creativity, editing, etc. This was Miami Palmetto's 1st time to enter the Sweet 16 Contest Category: FILM. A great experience for all however, we were over 5 minutes late for deadline. (Tape was due at 11:00 pm after 16 hours of shooting and editing). Technical difficulties prevented us from dumping to tape, despite our film being completely edited by 10:45 pm! Even though we did not qualify for placing, the committee agreed to critique the FILM for our students. The TVP0809 class all worked as a team to put this together. The winning videos of the 2009 Sweet 16 FILM category were excellent and WPAW hopes to achieve their level of "film-making" and creativity someday in the future. www.studenttelevision.com
