Time lapse movie of the total solar eclipse as seen from the airstrip at Mangaia airport (Cook Islands). There were three different layers of clouds crossing the sky in different directions.

Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: NIkkor AF-S DX 12-14mm
Exposure: 1/125s, f/5.6, ISO 100, WB sunlight
Movie: 999 frames each 2 seconds, 24 fps movie

  • @meloz1246: Thanks. I have looked at your video. You had good luck. Three cloud layers are hard to beat. I've seen pictures from a guy on a ship between Rarotonga and Mangaia. They could see the whole eclipse.

  • @bnies73 yes it seems we were both looking at the same circle of sunshine off the coast wishing we were on a ship also. Always a gamble.

  • Check out the view we got to see 2.5 kms south.

  • Such a bad luck, the Sun peeked out from behind the clouds seconds after the totality.

  • I was there!! We and some of the islanders all gathered at the airstrip to see the eclipse. We did'nt actually see totality because of the clouds, but it got dark.
