@PipesGunsAndGold1 - the 1200cc makes 40hp at the crank, about 25 at the wheels.
Most stock 1600's makes about 35hp at the wheels.

where could i get a soft top for my volks dune buggy? ive been looking forever and cant find one. any iformation is good, please help!

Yes for a 1600cc it doesnt have many horse, and its old air cooled design, and it probably struggles 30 mpg, but i wouldnt have it any other way :)

Seems to be pretty much stock with the output. It's probably actually a 1641 slip-in kit, unless it has some weird sized cylinders or crank??? If you were to do a slip in kit(not recomended due to thin walls), with a decent cam, some bumped up compression and a bit of head work, maybe a 2bbrl carb, you could put more power out (Probably push around a very respectable 75hp). I'm aiming for 120hp out of my 2027 type-1 street bug :)

that must be a pretty early vw 1600 because of the low hp.

No offense but...I'm into aircooled VW's,too, and not really impressed by that output...You can get many more performance from an aircooled engine with 1679cc...But you'll go some steps up in the budget on the other hand.
Anyway, nice car!!
