Kinetic Petals [Alpha]

The attached image is a rendering of a raw scan of Moira Williams' 'Rubber Petals'.

•The location of the thousands of points seen in the image were used to generate pitch and rhythm for an oboe band (oboe, oboe, english horn, bassoon) piece titled 'Rubber Petals'.

•That piece was close mic'ed and then chopped up into hundreds of sound samples by instrument type.

•This piece [Kinetic Petals] involves the re-assembling of the sound samples which are triggered and controlled by the onstage performer.

•Monitors the activity of 15 joints and their location in the XYZ field.

•Monitors the speed of all joints, and reacts to 'hit' points triggered by crossing a pre-determined velocity/acceleration threshold.
