Melbourne: C class Melbourne tram, operated by Yarra Trams. Between 2008 and 2011, Melbourne is renting five of Mulhouse's Citadis 302 trams. The 32,5 meter long trams are intended to operate on the Route 96 (East Brunswick-St Kilda Beach) service.

  • No it isn't jeff kennet's fault.

No Australian wants to work in a factory for lower than the minimum wage. They wouldn't be able to make a living.

So instead the companies have to manufacture offshore where it is much more cheaper and they can make a greater profit so they can make more trams and expand the network and sell tickets to you at a lower price.

You don't know the fundamentals of economics. It isn't jeff kennet's fault or Howard's fault that we don't have manufacturing in Australia

  • Trams are super cute!

  • It sounds like an X'trapolis

  • the union who has supposedly sold everyone out along with the govt, has successfully negotiated just recently for the new trams to be assembled right here in australia therefore keeping jobs and creating new ones.

there are alot of people employed in the tram workshops and also to work on the trams and trains there is about 8,000 people or more across the entire network, hardly selling out on any jobs.

the public transport industry is a very secure job if you can get in.

  • We are getting new trams in 2012

  • @iskandar1111 Actually, it is. It's called protectionism.
